Profhilo

What is Profhilo?

PROFHILO® is indicated for TISSUE REMODELING AND IMPROVEMENT IN SKIN LAXITY of face, neck, and decolletage.

PROFHILO® promotes the restoration of firmness, tone and elasticity of tissues in an authentic way, leading to a DYNAMIC MULTILEVEL REMODELLING of the skins structure in terms of elasticity and support, as well as maintaining and improving the quality of skin, with effects lasting around 6 months.

Profhilo contains one of the highest concentrations of stabilised hyaluronic acid (64mg/2ml) on the market. Because it is thermally bonded and not chemically bonded it acts as a hydrator not a filler. It is injected just underneath the surface of the skin where it disperses quickly and reacts with your own tissue to instantly boost hydration. Over the next four weeks phase two kick in as it goes to work boosting elastin and collagen production. This effectively remodels the skin and giving it a plumper, smoother and firmer appearance.

Treatment

Full treatment involves two sessions, one month apart. Further sessions are recommended every six months in order to prolong the effect for maintenance.

Profhilo can be used in conjunction with other fillers, laser treatments or anti-wrinkle injectables, however it is recommended to not have such treatments at the same time and leave a month after treatment.

Profhilo is injected just under the skin using very fine needles in pre-determined points. There is no downtime.

It is advisable to avoid alcohol, aspirin or anti-inflammatory medication in the 24 hours before treatment. Immediately after treatment make-up should be avoided, as well as sports and any other strenuous activity for at least 24 hours. Steam rooms and saunas should also be avoided for a week after treatment.

Side-effects

There are no long-term side effects. Profhilo is metabolised by the body completely.

No allergy test is required prior to treatment. The risk of allergic reactions is substantially reduced because Profhilo does not contain any synthetic chemicals which some people might react to.

There may be redness, slight bruising, tenderness or itching at the injection sites but these are temporary and should resolve within a day.

Contra-indications

Patients with bleeding disorders or a compromised immune system due to, for example, infectious diseases, cancer, HIV or diabetes should consult their doctor before considering Profhilo.

Cosmetic injectable treatments are not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

As with any procedure, it is important to find an experienced and qualified practitioner to carry out the treatment. Should the product be injected incorrectly or in the wrong area it can lead to filler related side effects such as skin necrosis.

How much does it cost

The cost per syringe is £200. Thus if you are to have the full treatment it will involve two sessions at £200 each.
